Voter Integrity – A Local, and National, Issue

New Hanover County GOP has been working diligently for several years on voter integrity issues, most recently with a team of dozens of volunteers to search through thousands of ballots for irregularities from the 2020 elections, an effort that had to work through the courts just to prove that multiple errors had occurred. Perhaps new legislation will give some relief to these costly efforts.

Congressman David Rouser (NC-07) joined Bryan Steil of Wisconsin and 111 other co-sponsors to submit the American Confidence in Elections Act, the most comprehensive election reform bill to come before the House in over 20 years. H.R. 4563 largely mirrors many attempts across the country to clean up the voter rolls and ensure Election Integrity for all Americans.

The freedom to vote and make your voice heard at the ballot box is a Constitutional right, fundamental to our society and the Republic.  The American public must be confident the electoral process is carried out fairly — that every vote is legitimate.   Otherwise, trust in our sacred institutions so critical to a civil society and the rule of law will deteriorate completely.  While it is the responsibility of individual states to carry out elections, Congress must have basic safeguards in place nationally to ensure confidence in our elections for federal office.”
